Ayaviri, June 30, 2006 - Last June 29, Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Bishop Kay Martín visited the traditional district of Nuñoa, in a time of celebration because it had been consecrated to these two apostles.
A large number of inhabitants participated in the Eucharist presided over by the Prelate in honor of its patron saints at Saint Peter's church. During his homily the Bishop of Ayaviri highlighted the apostles' testimony of fidelity until martyrdom and remembered that the love we have for Peter is the love that we should also have for the Pope, his successor, since Christ Himself willed to entrust him with the direction of the bark of the Church. At the end of the celebration he was greeted by the authorities and numerous faithful who showed their closeness to him and asked him for his blessing.
A little later the procession of the image of Saint Peter began, followed a few meters behind by Saint Rose of Lima. As is tradition, the image of the Peruvian saint is brought from the district of the same name in order to accompany the Fisherman Saint, a visit which he will return during the festivities in honor of the Patroness of America and the Philippines next August 30.
