Ayaviri, August 12 - Over fifty young people from Lima and Arequipa partook in the "Ayaviri 2006" missionary action project last week. They worked in the villages of Ņuņoa, Ayapata, Alianza, Corani, Macusani and Usicayos. "We've worked with the villagers who are very warm and welcoming," said one of the missionaries. "These areas are very poor and the people are in need of our help as much material as spiritual," said another.
During their missionary action in the Prelature, in the charge of Bishop Kay Martin Schmalhausen SCV, they visited different communities, prayed the Rosary with the villagers, blessed houses and the sick and organized a night of theatre and music with the local youth.
Finally the missionaries donated 30 large boxes containing clothes, so necessary for the inhabitants to survive the cold weather at this time of years. More missionary action on the part of youths is expected to take place in February of 2007.
