Ayaviri, October 15 - In the midst of an impressive atmosphere of dances, decorated streets and altars and above all the celebration of holy feast day Mass, the Catholic town of Nuņoa celebrated the feast day of its patron, la Virgen del Pilar.

Moments before the beginning of the Mass various groups of dancers entered the church and offered their dances and songs to the Virgin, songs whose lyrics express the love of the people for the "Mamacha" del Pilar - as they affectionately refer to her - and have been passed down for generations.

Father Domingo Atamari, curate of the district, called upon all to experience the love of the Mother who always waits on all her children, especially those who have distance themselves from her, and prayed that the feast be an occasion to rediscover her love.

After the Mass, the Virgin was carried through the town streets order that she might receive the homage and gratitude of the town's inhabitants who had prepared beautiful altars for her.
