Ayaviri, December 22. The celebration of Christmas in Ayaviri had great success with more than 12000 children in Ayaviri. Hundreds of volunteers from the various civil and religious institutions of the city prepared this important event, which was covered nation-wide by Radio Programas del Peru (RPP), Peruvian leader radio news network.
The children gathered at the Children's Park of the city, where they first received chocolate and sponge cake. They then enjoyed a musical show where different artists shared the joy of Christmas. Bishop Kay Martin Schmalhausen, SCV, highlighted the aim of this whole celebration: to thank God for having become one of us and having brought peace and reconciliation.
Ricardo Chavez, Mayor of the city, thanked RPP's support and highlighted the team work of different institutions to make possible this activity.
An especially emotive moment of solidarity was lived when a humble mother was in need of a wheelchair for his little son. Not just one, but two wheelchairs were donated to her. Also, tens of elders from Ayaviri received supplies and blankets during the day.
At the end of the event, the children received their gifts. On the next days, supplies, clothes and gifts will be arriving to Sandia and Carabaya cities.
