News - Prelature of Ayaviri - 200 Ayaviri youth participate in Cristiada 2007

Ayaviri, March 13, 2007 - In the context of the Great Parish mission of Ayaviri the first Christian Day of Reflection ("Cristiada") took place under the theme "Don't be afraid, He takes away nothing and gives everything." In this youth faith encounter around 200 Ayavirians from different schools and educational institutions in the city reflected on and deepened in their faith and the situation they are called to live and the coherent Christian answer they are called to give to this difficult reality by means of talks, panel discussions, theater, videos and group meetings.

The Day of Reflection ended with the celebration of the Eucharist by Bishop Kay Martín Schmalhausen in Saint Francis of Assissi Cathedral. The Bishop of Ayaviri exhorted the youth to risk living the adventure of Christian life and not to let themselves be fooled by the worlds offers which are incapable of satisfying the hunger for infinity that dwells in the heart of every authentic young person.

The Day of reflection was the result of a joint effort of Saint Francis of Assissi parish, Franciscan Youth (JUFRA) and the Christian Life Movement. The participants will be meeting in order to coordinate the concrete actions they committed to carrying out in Ayaviri.
